I bought size 4-6x for my two year old since he's big and wears a 4t in clothing, but I've got to say that clothing sizes aren't in relation to mitten sizes and these seem like they'll fit him best when he's around 5 years old. He's still gonna wear them, now, they'll just be big on him. However, I think these gloves will be better than any other's we've purchased because the thumb is in the middle and absolutely possible to get his little fingers into for dexterity. The whole reason why he'd keep taking his old mittens off was because he couldn't get his thumb in the side holes and therefore couldn't grip shovels, snow or anything else while wearing.
