Now I Can Use my GOOD Headphones! December 22, 2008 100indecisions (Chicago, IL USA) This thing is awesome - it makes it possible for me to hook up my Bose headphones to my G1. Now my iPod is covered in dust and I can't remember how I coped without a smartphone. The microphone means that I can listen to music and still take calls - and the cord is plenty long enough to hide inside my coat while standing outside waiting for public transportation.
only useful while charging from wall charger December 7, 2008 K. V. Aldecoa 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When you plug it in to a computer with USB, while you listen to music, there is a lot of noise leaked. You hear noisy blips and static as the computer communicates over usb with the phone. It's really loud and drowns out the music, making the contraption useless, since you might as well have plugged it into the usb port directly. It does this even when mounting is disabled. You can't listen to music while it's mounted anyway, but it's nice to be able to charge from the computer -- saves an outlet and makes it easy to copy to/from usb when needed. It is much better when the USB is plugged directly to a charger, and not a computer. No blips/almost no static. When not charging at all the sound quality is great. Also the mute/advance button is a little clunky compared to the HTC adapter that came with the phone. It has more resistance/stickiness, so it's a little tricky to do the double-press to advance songs, since it it so slow to do each press. Also, the mini-usb adapter on the 3-in-1 doesn't have the special square cut of the non-standard HTC connector, so you can't use the HTC-supplied usb adapter that came with the phone. I have a bunch of the standard D-shaped non-square-edged adapters laying around, so that's not too troublesome. But at least I can charge and listen to music.

Simple extension for adding a 3.5mm port to a USB-only cell- or smart phone. Works a promised. Only downside is the very long, thin cable that might break or rip if not careful
