Smell of rubber wont go away! January 25, 2008 C. Brown I don't wear these much, but they have polluted my closet with the smell of rubber. The laces have a habit of loosening throughout the day even when a double knot is used to tie them off.

I asked for these boots this past year for Christmas, having looked over the pictures and reading the description (as well as finding out that almost no one else had shoes in my size: 15). With a price like $[...], they're easy on the wallet, but they're not the easiest on your feet. After a week or so, I had to run out and get some gel insoles, and even then, they're a bit hard on the heels. And when you have a job like mine, where you're on your feet all day for at least six hours at a time, you really need better footwear. Like their description says, these are GI STYLE boots. Yes, STYLE. As in, "not for military use", or use by professionals. Maybe if you're into cosplay or it's near Halloween and you need some good black boots, then these are right up your alley. Don't get me wrong. They're waterproof, for the most part, and they have a pretty snug fit. However, they're tough on the bottoms of your feet. Fresh out of the box, they're pretty stiff in the ankle as well, but they loosen a tad after breaking them in a bit. In conclusion: Worth the price, but you're better off saving an extra sixty bucks or so and getting real boots from Bates.
